Biarritz - A timeless classic
Biarritz is the place in the world we call home and has all the characteristics you can possibly ask for; a cool, chic, charming, beautiful and legendary beach town situated in the south west of France. With one foot in a distinguished history with beautiful architecture, wonderful scenery and fine dining and the other firmly standing in Europe’s, without a doubt, most vibrant surf community. There are direct flights to Biarritz from both Stockholm with Ryanair, and Copenhagen with SAS.
Surfakademin’s season in Biarritz lasts from early May through the lovely late summer days of mid-October.
It is no coincidence that southwestern France, with its mild climate and strategic location, midway between the North Pole and the Equator, wrapped in the Atlantic waves has become a paradise for surfers. In Biarritz we have the classic and scenic Cote des Basques. Within half hour drive you will find lots of other great surf spots such as Anglet and Gutheray. In an hour we are in San Sebastian, catching waves amid tapas restaurant and narrow alleys.
Summer in Biarritz is incredibly eventful. It begins in late May when the World’s best longboarders makes up for the title in the nearby located Anglet, in June its the fete de la musique, live music both on the beach and in the bars, in July its time for Roxy Jam, the world championship in longboarding for women, in august it is time for crazy street parties Basque-style in the neighboring town of Bayonne and in September /October the WCT tour visits Hossegor, an hour north of Biarritz.
