Costa Rica - Every surfer's dream
Costa Rica is one of the countries in the world with the longest life expectancy. Why? Beautiful and dramatic landscapes, wonderful climate and consistent and varied surf?
They themselves, Ticos and Ticas, say that the main reason is that laughter and joy is always present. Either way, Costa Rica is every surfer’s dream destination – whether you are surfing for the first time or competing on the world tour.
Costa Rica has a tropical climate and an enjoyable water temperature at 27 degrees all year around. Surfakademin’s surf camp is located on the Nicoya Peninsula on the pacific coast. With a 180-degree swell window Costa Rica is extremely wave consistent all year around but during the period from December to April, the conditions are optimal.
Santa Teresa is a charming little village – posh-slacky in a way. The humble gravel road that runs through town is lined with restaurants run by New Yorkers or Europeans and local sodas – all in a beautiful symbiosis. The beach is probably one of the world’s most gorgeous. When you are sitting out in the water, waiting for the next set to approach looking towards the land you will be dazzled by a spectacular green backdrop – the rainforest runs right down to the beach. Unbelievably beautiful.
Costa Rica is politically stable and is the only country in Central America that has never been in armed conflict with its neighboring countries. No visa is required as long as the trip is less than 90 days. And you do not need to worry about nibbling malaria pills as long as you stay on the Nicoya Peninsula.
